Travis Wilson, unlike many of his contemporaries, is not an elite quarterback. Despite being an intimidating presence in the pocket at 6-foot-7, 233 pounds, he does not rank among the top passers, both in yardage and touchdowns, and does a highly respectable but not amazing job in leading his team on the field.
And yet, Wilson has done just enough for his Utah Utes to have the team at 6-0 on the season and No. 3 in the Top 25. Thanks to underachieving play by Pac-12 rivals Oregon, UCLA and especially USC, Utah is now the odds-on favorite to win the conference and, depending on which chips fall into place, make the College Football Playoff.
