PULLMAN, Wash. – The Utah volleyball team dropped its first Pac-12 conference match of the season, falling in three sets (19-25, 20-25, 14-25) to the Washington State Cougars Saturday evening at Bohler Gym in Pullman, Wash.
The Utes (7-6, 1-1 Pac-12) was limited to just a .102 hitting percentage, while the Cougars (12-2, 1-1 Pac-12) hit .295 and recorded 15.0 total team blocks. WSU won its fourth straight match against the Utes inside Bohler Gym and moved to 6-1 all-time when facing Utah at home.
Runs of 7-1 and 7-2 in the first set helped the Cougars establish a 20-14 lead late in the first set and while the Utes managed to trade points with the home squad late in the frame, it was too late as WSU won 25-19 to go up 1-0 in the match.
