SALT LAKE CITY – A 26-point fourth quarter and four Utes hitting double-figures in points helped the University of Utah women’s basketball team earn a 66-59 victory over South Dakota in Head Coach Lynne Robert’s debut on Friday.
Utah (1-0) moved to 29-12 all-time in season openers by limiting South Dakota to a 31.3% shooting night (20-64). The Utes shot 42.6% (23-54) from the floor. The Utes are now 35-8 all-time in home openers.
“South Dakota is a really good team,” Roberts said. “They’ve won a lot of games over the last few years and have been in the postseason.
