Former University of Utah women's basketball players - Michelle Plouffe, Kim Smith (Gaucher) and Shona Thorburn - helped the Canadian National Team earn a berth in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio after claiming the gold medal at the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship in Edmonton's Saville Community Sports Centre.
After posting a 6-0 mark in the FIBA Americas, Team Canada has now won its last 11 games in international competition.
