SALT LAKE CITY — Officials for the Vivint Smart Home Arena announced Thursday an annual basketball tournament for in-state college basketball programs.
The tournament, which will be called the Zions Bank Beehive Classic, will be held annually and will feature in-state schools BYU, Utah, Utah State and Weber State. The tournament will be hosted at the Vivint Smart Home Arena and will begin in the 2017 season in December.
Following the University of Utah’s decision for a one-year hiatus against playing BYU earlier this year, Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak said he was interested in working something out where all local schools would meet up in a similar tournament.
