Utes blow lead in 7th, fall 4-3 to Boston College

OXFORD, Mississippi — Utah now has a more difficult road to the Super Regionals after losing 4-3 to Boston College in the second game of the NCAA tournament Saturday.

Holding a 3-1 lead coming into the seventh inning, Utah allowed three runs from Boston College following a rough outing from its bullpen and simple errors from the infield.

Utah starting pitcher Dalton Carroll started the inning but was quickly replaced by hunter Rodriguez after Johnny Adams doubled down the left field line. Adams would then steal third on a passed ball by Rodriguez.

Rodriguez hit the next pitcher, Logan Hoggarth, to put runners on first and third before Gabe Hernandez came up with a successful bunt to send Adams home for the first score of the inning.
