For the game against UCLA, Utah will wear the handcrafted black helmets first unveiled for the blackout game against USC, white jersey, and black pants. Utah has worn this uniform combination with older versions of the black helmet at Arizona State in 2012 and at Oregon in 2013.

They were made possible due to a generous donation from Dave and Julie Layton of Layton Construction. I spoke with Utah director of equipment operations Kelly Sharitt after the USC game, and he told me the whole project to make this helmet happen took months between design and painting.
