SALT LAKE CITY — The nation's best punter in college football remains at the University of Utah.
Sophomore punter Mitch Wishnowsky was named the Ray Guy Award winner Thursday night on ESPN's College Football Awards show. The Australian-native ranked second in the nation in punting, averaging 48.0 yards per punt in his first season at Utah.
Wishnowsky is the second player from Utah to win the award, with former punter Tom Hackett winning it in back-to-back years in 2014 and 2015, and first sophomore to win the award. With the honor, the Ray Guy Award has been given to a Utah player in three consecutive seasons.
