SALT LAKE CITY — Chalk it up to being Friday the 13th or season-opener jitters, but Utah's offense was forced to rely solely on its frontcourt to overcome a hot-handed Southern Utah team Friday night.
Bigs Jordan Loveridge, Kyle Kuzma and Jakob Poeltl proved enough as the trio scored a combined 73 of Utah's 82 points on the night. Kuzma and Poeltl also finished the night with career-highs in points scored and double-doubles in a combined 23 rebounds effort.
Dakarai Tucker, Brekkott Chapman and Lorenzo Bonam were the only other Utes to score on the night, but only provided a combined nine points in the effort.
