SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah football team is off to its best start in five years, when it went undefeated for eight games, only to stumble in back-to-back weeks against TCU and Notre Dame, seeing its national ranking fall from 6th to 15th to 25th in a matter of weeks.
Currently, the Utes rank third overall in the country, their highest ranking since finishing the 2008 Sugar Bowl season with the nation's No. 2 ranking, and their best ever regular season ranking.
The Utes have a two-game lead on the closest Pac-12 South competitor, having knocked off Arizona State in Rice-Eccles Stadium 34 to 18, and sit firmly in the driver's seat to represent the South Division in the Pac-12 championship game.
