SALT LAKE CITY — When your father works for Brigham Young University, your brother is a student there and your sister was a former gymnast at the Provo school, you wouldn't think you'd end up at the University of Utah.
But that's exactly what happened to MaKenna Merrell.
The Pleasant Grove native attended Pleasant Grove High School — just 12 miles away from BYU. Merrell is now a freshman on the Utes gymnastics team.
"It's a house divided, but they're always rooting for me and the team," Merrell, who confessed she rooted for the Cougars growing up, said of her family.
