SAN JOSE, Calif. — After a sluggish first quarter, Utah woke up and caused an earthquake with big plays against San Jose State. The Utes (3-0) enter conference play undefeated after beating the Spartans (1-2) 34-17 in CEFCU Stadium Saturday night.
The game didn’t have a glamorous start by any means. Utah’s first three drives resulted in two field goals and a punt. The team trailed 10-6, and everyone was thankful there were still 45 minutes of football left to play.
After serving a suspension, receiver Cory Butler-Byrd made his presence known in his season debut. His first play was a first-quarter 45-yard reception, riling up Utah fans.
