Utah's fall camp will not feature one of its premier talented returning starters — at least for the time being.
University of Utah athletics announced in a news release Monday morning that junior strong safety Chase Hansen "is unavailable to practice until further notice." The 6-foot-3, 220-pound defensive back was the leading tackler and an honorable All-Pac-12 mention for the Utes in 2016.
No reason was given for what is hinted as Hansen's temporary absence. It is program policy not discuss a player's injury unless it is season-ending.
The former Lone Peak High School quarterback transitioned to safety on a full-time basis his sophomore season and made an instant impact.
