SALT LAKE CITY — Utah began its simulated game-week practices this week, but the attention was all on newly named starter Tyler Huntley.
The decision to name the sophomore quarterback as the starter came as a surprise to many, but offensive coordinator Troy Taylor said Huntley earned the position. Taylor said it was a difficult decision naming a starter, but he felt Huntley had done enough to win the job over incumbent starter Troy Williams.
Taylor said the decision to name Huntley the starter was his alone but head coach Kyle Whittingham signed off on the change.
