Thursday is when the combine finally started to get down to some real business, and it was the day that the athletes took the bench press, and some Utes performed exceptionally.
Isaac Asiata, former Utah guard, had the best performance of the day among everyone hitting the bench by putting up 35 reps. That has to help his draft stock at least a little bit. JJ Dielman, another former Ute lineman, put up 27 reps, which was 7th most on the day. Sam Tevi put up 15 reps, which isn’t great, but people around the program have said that’s not really his strength, as he’s more about quickness, agility and smarts, not power.
