In an interview with the Tribune, King said he and his family — both his parents have a military background — connected well with secondary coaches Morgan Scalley and Sharrieff Shah. He told them a week ago that he was committed, but held off on the official announcement.

After his visit two weekends ago, King said he was sure.

"My [high school] defensive coordinator said when I go to the right school, I'll feel it, and when I leave I'll want to come back immediately," he said. "For me, that was Utah."

King had an injury-marred senior year for Klein Oak, dealing with a torn labrum for much of the season.
