But most of the year Utah has pushed off thoughts of the future for the present. As the regular season wraps up on Saturday, Poeltl opened up about his basketball career trajectory.
"The way it looks right now, I think I'm going to the draft," Poeltl said. "But I'm not going to make a final decision on it until the season's over."
From an individual standpoint, Poeltl may not have much more left to prove by season's end. He's a finalist or semifinalist for the Wooden Award, the Naismith Award, the Oscar Robertson Trophy and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award.
