SALT LAKE CITY — In Utah's first true test of the season, the Utes failed to capitalize on the moment and fell to No. 18 Butler, losing 68-59.
Utah had 18 turnovers Monday night and struggled to get into an offensive rhythm, with veterans Lorenzo Bonam and Kyle Kuzma making up nearly the entire offensive effort for the Utes. The two combined for 38 of Utah's 59 points on the night.
Although the offensive performance for most of the team left much to be desired, and is a potential concern moving forward, it was the turnover problem that kept the Utes from getting into their designed game plan or a “chance to execute our offense,” as Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak said.
