Track. Utah Prepares for Tough Competition at the Stanford Invitational

SALT LAKE CITY- The University of Utah distance athletes gear up for the first big test of the outdoor season at the Stanford Invitational. The Utes will get action underway on Friday with the women’s 5,000-meter run at the Cobb Track in Palo Alto, Calif., beginning at 11 a.m. PST.

Several athletes will also compete down the road at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival on Friday at Cox Stadium.

“We’ve got work to do,” Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. “The entry qualification marks to get into Stanford are pretty steep, especially in an Olympic year because you get a lot of post-collegians coming out and stealing spots.
