Orlando, Fla. – Utah Softball closed the UCF Spring Fling with a 4-2 win over Purdue this afternoon. Anissa Urtez reached base four times, driving in a pair, and Hailey Hilburn had a key pinch-hit, two-run single as the Utes finished 4-1 at the tournament.
Miranda Viramontes pitched her second complete game of the season and struck out a career-high six batters. It was the second game in a row where a Utah pitcher notched a career-high for strikeouts as Katie Donovan whiffed eight Boilermaker batters yesterday.
Utah looked like it would take an early lead when Urtez doubled with two outs in the first.
