SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Softball tried to erase a three-run deficit in the seventh inning but came up just short, losing 5-4 to BYU this evening at Dumke Family Softball Stadium.
After Utah got out of a jam in the first, Delilah Pacheco walked to lead off the game. With two outs, she advanced to second on a wild pitch but was stranded after a strikeout.
Both batting orders were stifled until the fourth when the Cougars got on the board after a throwing error by the Utes with two outs. In the bottom half of the inning, Anissa Urtez reached second on a miscommunication by a pair of BYU fielders.
