The No. 10 University of Utah softball team had a strong start in its doubleheader against the Grand Canyon University Lopes on Tuesday, May 2. In the first game of the day the Utes took an early lead in the first inning, and they maintained it for the rest of the game as they won 9-0. The Utes also took the second game, but they didn’t see action until the final inning where they scored three runs to shut out GCU, 3-0.
“I thought it was a good team win,” said senior Kay Kay Fronda. “Our pitchers went in there throwing strikes and doing their job, and everyone had quality at bat.
