SALT LAKE CITY — The 24th-ranked Utah Utes gave head coach Kyle Whittingham his 100th career win during the team’s homecoming game at Rice-Eccles Stadium Saturday night. While it wasn’t pretty, the Utes beat Arizona 36-23.
Overall, the first half didn’t go in the Utes’ favor. They gave up a 75-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the game. Utah (5-1, 2-1 Pac-12) tried to even the score a few series later but a bobbled snap moved the team from Arizona’s (2-4, 0-3) 2-yard line to the 10. The mistake forced the Utes to settle for a field goal.
