SALT LAKE CITY — Senior guard Brandon Taylor led all scores in No. 16 Utah's 124-70 rout of Cal State Monterey Bay in an exhibition game Thursday.
Taylor scored 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting and recorded three assists and two rebounds in the win that won't count on the official books. Taylor played 23 minutes and was the point person on the offensive side of the ball as Utah moves forward without former standout guard Delon Wright, who is now with the Toronto Raptors in the NBA.
The Utes started out slow on offense and allowed the Otters to keep it close through the first media timeout of the game, but quickly picked up the pace and dominated the game against an inferior Division II opponent.
