SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah basketball program added a big-time shooting guard out of California Thursday.

Devante Doutrive, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard, from Woodland Hills, California, committed to Utah Thursday and intends to redshirt the 2017-18 season. The incoming freshman spurned offers from Arizona State, Gonzaga, Oregon, and UTEP to sign with the Runnin’ Utes.

“We are excited to welcome Devante to our basketball program,” head coach Larry Krystkowiak said in a statement. “He is very athletic and has a great knack for putting points on the board. He is also a tremendous passer and will fit into our system quite well.
