SALT LAKE CITY — Utah gymnastics’ season-opener was special in nearly every way.
Freshman MyKayla Skinner — who was an alternate for the U.S. Olympic Women’s Gymnastics Team — made her highly anticipated debut, sophomore MaKenna Merrell scored personal bests on every event, and sophomore Kari Lee returned to the competition floor after a devastating season-ending Achilles injury nearly one year ago.
Of course No. 6 Utah’s 196.625-195.525 win over No. 7 Michigan was the cherry on top.
“What an incredible night,” said Utah co-head coach Tom Farden. "They were confident all through the night."
Skinner won the all-around with a fantastic 39.
