SEATTLE — The University of Utah softball team’s run to consecutive Super Regionals has come to an end.
No. 7 Washington did all of its scoring in the first two innings, and held on for a 2-1 win over the No. 16 Utes in Sunday’s decisive game of the Seattle Super Regional to advance to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
Washington hurler Taran Alvelo (32-7) allowed just one run on eight hits with three strikeouts in the complete-game win.
The host Huskies scored first, netting a run each in the first and second inning to take an early 2-0 advantage.
