For the first time in school history, the Utah Utes will have two different finalists at the Home Depot College Football Awards, which will take place on Dec. 7 in Atlanta, Ga. Kicker Matt Gay was named a finalist for the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, while punter Mitch Wishnowsky was named a finalist for the Ray Guy Award. Wishnowsky is the reigning Ray Guy Award winner, and Utah is seeking their fourth-straight Ray Guy Award, after Tom Hackett won the award twice followed by Wishnowsky’s win. Gay is the second Utah kicker to be named a finalist for the Lou Groza Award along with Louie Sakota, who was a finalist for both the Lou Groza and Ray Guy Awards in 2008.
