Kicker Matt Gay Gets NCAA Clock Extension

Utah Utes kicker Matt Gay has received an NCAA clock extension, so he will be able to participate with the team through spring of 2019, essentially meaning he gets to play for Utah football for two years instead of just one. This type of extension does not require a waiver from the NCAA and was granted due to his LDS church mission he served during the 2015-16 academic year.

Despite never having played collegiate football prior to this season at Utah, Gay leads the nation in many categories after previously playing soccer at Utah Valley University.
