SALT LAKE CITY — In his first start of the season, senior quarterback Kendal Thompson managed the game well against Fresno State and helped secure a convincing 45-24 victory. But the lack of a deep-threat passing game was evident in the offense Saturday night and has been all season.
Living by the deep ball is a risk-reward opportunity. If a team can make big plays, it's generally easier and quicker to move the ball and put more points on the board. However, big plays lend themselves to turnovers and more opportunities to lose momentum and ultimately the game.
