SALT LAKE CITY — It’s not often that a football team wins despite losing the turnover margin, but Utah narrowly missed an opportunity to do so.
The Utes threw a Hail Mary as time expired that ended in an interception, locking Washington State’s 33-25 victory. Had Utah scored the touchdown and succeeded with a two-point conversion, the game would’ve continued in overtime and the Utes might have pulled off an upset.
There are a lot of what-ifs, such as “What if Utah didn’t turn the ball over so many times?”
The Utes finished the game with a season-high seven turnovers thanks to three fumbles and four interceptions.
