SALT LAKE CITY — It hasn’t always been the case, but Saturday night was a positive reflection on the two major college football programs on the Wasatch Front.
Utah clinched bowl eligibility with a 34-13 rout of Colorado, paced by the dual-ground threat of Zack Moss and Troy Williams and a Ute defensive front that that pressured the Buffs all night.
BYU wasn’t playing for bowl eligibility, but the Cougars ended their 4-9 season on a high note with a 30-20 win over Hawai’i. The Cougars piled up 285 yards on the ground through the running back trio of Squally Canada, Austin Kafentzis and Riley Burt, but mistakes helped the Rainbow Warriors stay close until the end.
