LAS VEGAS — Thursday brought another day for BYU and Utah to practice for Saturday's upcoming Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl. But it also came with a pair of chances to get out into the community and serve.
The Utes and Cougars split into two mixed groups to handle a pair of projects involving southern Nevada-based charity groups. One group that included injured BYU quarterback Taysom Hill went to Las Vegas' Opportunity Village, which provides work opportunities for adults with disabilities in the area.
The other group headed to C.P. Squires Elementary School in North Las Vegas, where the players helped provide 900 disadvantaged children with new shoes, socks and other supplies in partnership with the Goodie Two Shows Foundation.
