PROVO — The BYU football team accepted an invitation Wednesday to play in the Las Vegas Bowl against a soon to be announced PAC-12 opponent.
By Thursday, there were preliminary reports that the bowl committee was considering matching up the Cougars against rival Utah for the game. University of Utah officials have stated the Utes hope to be invited to one of the higher bowls available to the Pac-12 than the No. 6 pick from the conference. But the chance remains that Utah is among the teams eligible for the Las Vegas Bowl, along with Cal, UCLA or Washington State, among others.
