SALT LAKE CITY – A six-run fourth inning lifted the Utah baseball team to a 9-8 victory over UC Riverside on Saturday evening, as the Utes survived a late rally from the Highlanders.
Although UC Riverside took a 1-0 lead on an unearned run in the second, the Utes rallied back with six runs on five hits in the fourth. Utah also scored runs in the fifth, sixth and eighth innings. UC Riverside scored seven runs over the final three innings, including four runs in the ninth, in a late comeback attempt.
Utah was led at the plate by Kody Davis, who went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs.
