SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah baseball team split a doubleheader against 14th-ranked Oregon State on Friday afternoon, falling 7-2 in game one before coming back to win game two, 7-6.
Dalton Carroll spent most of game one locked in a pitchers dual with Oregon State’s Luke Heimlich, with the Beavers holding a 1-0 lead though seven innings. OSU scored two runs in the eighth and four runs in the ninth before the Utes avoided the shutout with two runs in the ninth.
In game two, the Utes took an early 3-0 lead and led 5-2 through two innings.
