PULLMAN, Wash. - Behind a strong outing on the mound from Josh Lapiana, the Utah baseball team completed the series win over Washington State with a 3-2 victory in the rubber match on Monday evening.
With the win, Utah remains tied for the Pac-12 lead with Washington (13-8 Pac-12). The Utes have won five Pac-12 series this season.
WSU took a 1-0 lead in the fifth before Utah pulled ahead with two runs in the seventh and a run in the eighth for a 3-1 lead. The Cougars loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth before a strikeout ended the game.
