SALT LAKE CITY – Jayson Rose pitched a one-hit shutout and Cody Scaggari hit a two-run home run to lead the Utah baseball team to a 4-0 win over UC Riverside on Friday evening, opening a three-game series.
Rose had eight strikeouts over eight innings pitched, walking four and allowing just one hit. Dylan Drachler entered in the ninth to close it out with a game-ending strikeout.
Scaggari went 2-for-3 with two RBI and walk at the plate. Andre Jackson was also 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Utah (12-18) got on the board in the fourth inning.
