VOA of Utah says it’s desperately in need of volunteers

Volunteers of America, Utah says it’s in dire need of volunteers, whose ranks have thinned now that the holidays are over.

“We’re immensely grateful for volunteers’ support through the holiday season and cold weather months, and we hope to see many of the same kind faces and generous volunteer efforts throughout the year,” Alexis Brown Brotherton, VOA’s corporate relations and volunteer engagement director, said in a prepared statement released Wednesday.

A VOA press release stated that the nonprofit relies on volunteers to serve clients at multiple facilities — including the Geraldine E. King Women’s Resource Center, which provides shelter for up to 200 women; the Youth Resource Center, a drop-in site and emergency shelter for youth aged 15 to 22 who are at-risk or experiencing homelessness; and the Center for Women and Children, a detoxification facility for women withdrawing from alcohol or drugs.
