Most students who graduate in Utah have less borrowed debt than the national average.

A new report from Lend.edu found that the class of 2016 graduated with $27,975 in debt, which is 1.5 percent less than the $28,400 borrowed in 2015.

In a survey of 1,161 schools (both public and private), Lend.edu found the average student debt per borrower, the amount of graduates with student debt and how this year’s debt numbers compared to last year.

Utah ranked 51st overall for lowest debt per borrower (meaning its students had the least debt on average across the country) with students on average receiving $18,100 in debt.
