Utah State women's tennis began its run at the Wildcat Invitational No. 2 on Friday, as four Aggies saw victories in singles and a team won its doubles match.
In the first singles draw quarterfinals, freshman Sasha Pisareva dropped just one game in the first set against New Mexico's Hsiang-Wen "Albie" Huang, winning 6-1. Huang won the second set, 6-4, but Pisareva advanced to the semifinals after winning the third, 6-4. Sophomore Lucy Octave also won her match, winning in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, against Arizona's Maggie Cohen. Sophomore Rhoda Tanui won her first set, 6-3, against New Mexico's Ruth Copas but lost the next two, 6-1, 6-4.
