Salt Lake City celebrates Apollo 11′s 50th anniversary with a rocket launch, movies and lecture

Celebrate Apollo 11′s 50th anniversary with five days of “launch and landing” activities. Unless noted, all events take place at the Clark Planetarium, 110 S. 400 West, Salt Lake City. Most events are free, but some require tickets or advanced registration to guarantee a seat. Visit slco.org/clark-planetarium for more details.

Rocket launch • Tuesday, July 16, 10 a.m., Veterans Memorial Park, 1985 W. 7800 South, West Jordan. Salt Lake County officials will launch a model of the Saturn V rocket, which was the rocket that propelled the astronauts to the moon. Public rocket launches and hands-on activities for families will follow.
