Police believe Utah man shot and killed a Halloween party-goer before he was stabbed to death

One of two Utah men killed at a Halloween party near Roosevelt shot the other to death before he was stabbed to death, according to the the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the house near 1250 W. 850 North about 12:15 a.m. on Nov. 1 and found two bodies. Investigators believe “based on information available at this time” that John Reed Jr., 22, went to the party and shot Tyrell Sowsonicut, 23, according to a news release from the sheriff.

Witnesses told investigators that after the shooting, “other party-goers stepped in … and Reed was stabbed during the ensuing altercation.
