Plain City perseveres after crash almost ruins Independence Day celebration

A small Utah town’s Independence Day celebration was almost derailed Thursday when the truck carrying fireworks for the city’s display crashed on the way to its final destination, according to FOX 13.

The truck crashed on its way to Plain City, a town of about 7,100 people in Weber County, while carrying the fireworks from Cache Valley. The driver sustained minor injuries, but the truck was totaled, and the fireworks never made it to Plain City.

“I just said, ‘Hey, let’s have our own, let’s see what we can do to round up the troops and have our own show,’” Plain City Mayor Jon Beesley told FOX 13.
