A driver witnessed a man and woman fighting Monday night in Provo when he pulled over, confronted the man and then shot the man multiple times, police said.
The couple were physically fighting just before 8 p.m. between an apartment building and a four-plex near 500 North and 200 East, when the passer-by pulled his car up to them, said Provo Police Sgt. Nisha King.
The driver got out and there was "some verbal exchange" with the man who was fighting with the woman, King said. The driver fired multiple shots at the man, King said.
The man was in critical condition when he was taken to the hospital with "numerous" gunshot wounds, King said.
