Life on the other side: Former Ute stars Trevor Reilly and Brandon Burton are finding out the coaching business is tougher than it looks

The course is Econ 3620, Mathematics for Economists. If that title is not intimidating enough, consider the University of Utah catalog description: “The use of mathematical language to formulate and solve problems in economics. Topics include linear algebra, differential and integral calculus and constrained optimization.”

The ex-Ute linebacker is back on the campus this month, working with the football program as a student assistant while awaiting an NFL team’s call. Reilly joins former teammate Brandon Burton, a graduate assistant, as NFL veterans getting their first coaching experience — and discovering there’s much involved in the profession than they may have known.
