In their flight to distance themselves from the president, many Republicans have resorted to some variation of this statement: “I support Trump’s agenda, but I don’t support Trump, himself.”
So far there’s been little, if any, substance to the latter part. After Sens. Bob Corker and Jeff Flake spoke out, the silence was deafening.
Here’s my suggestion. If you really don’t support Trump, find a true conservative, urge him or her to run in 2020 and do everything in your power to get this candidate nominated. Keep the agenda. Dump Trump.
Otherwise, you are complicit in all of Trump’s wrongdoings: The support of white supremacists, the lack of respect for Gold Star families, the misogyny, the racism, the list goes on and on.
