Letter: Time to put double standards for women to rest

Michelle Quist’s column on Nov. 16, “We need more women in the political arena,” has my complete agreement. Women, Democrats and Republicans alike, must be in the political arena.

Quist also stated Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera “needs to scrutinize what she says, what she does, even how she does her hair.” I understand the need for professionalism for women, particularly in such a male-dominated field. But, as Quist said, “Real women cry. And that’s okay.” And, real women can be attractive. And that’s okay. And real women can comb their hair as they choose.
