Thomas Burr reported several of Mitt Romney’s statements and positions on DACA and the Dreamers. As I understand it, he originally opposed legal protection for these people; then that was “water under the bridge” because Obama’s “representations” changed the circumstances (whatever that means) and those commitments should be honored. More recently, Mitt says Dreamers should only gain legal status (but not citizenship) if they meet certain conditions. He has also stated (through a spokesperson) that he disagrees with parts of the GOP platform that the Dreamers be given legal status.
Since the anointed candidate Romney has tossed his hat in the ring for Hatch’s Senate seat, maybe he should retrieve it just long enough to attach a “winds-of-political-change” weather vane.
