Lehi linebacker Lincoln Bunker hung back as his teammates sprinted straight from the end of the handshake line across the field to thank their fans.
The two seniors grew up together. They met when they were about 6 years old, Bunker said, and started playing football together in fourth grade. They faced off in the Class 5A state final Friday night in what would be a 55-17 Lehi victory at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
“It was good to see him out there,” Palmer said. “He’s been through a lot, and we’ve been through a lot together, so it was good to see us both make it to the championship game.
